This book is a great teaching book and reference shelf book, something to keep near.
A lot of good material. I would say buy it

This is bar the far biggest mistake I ever made when buying a book based on the reviews of others. The book seems as if it has not been through the proof reading process. There are mistakes quite literally on every page, not only in terms of punctuation, etc. but also syntax and general grammar. It is so bad that I began to highlight them with a marker but after getting to eighty by page forty I had to give up. Such an astronomical level of errors made it impossible for me to continue reading the book as I simply couldn’t make sense of it. It’s as if the tome was penned by someone from Mars who then had the text rammed through a Babel Fish translator. An unforgiveable blot on the oeuvre of the author, who as a teacher should be ashamed, as well as on the publishing industry in general. A complete waste of my money and an insult to boot. Recommendation to the author: get it proof read and issue a thorougly corrected second edition ASAP!
PS: From what I could glean there is some good advice buried in this book underneath the plethora of clunky expression and errors, but come on, if you’re going to write a book you do need to make sure that it’s a pleasant, professionally-presented reading perience also.

This book is absolutely a MUST have to anyone that is learning about audio mixing or even for Pros who want an amazing reference. Incredibly well written and accessible despite the depth of the information. It is a true masterpiece that will be at the top of students reading lists for a long time to come.

“Mixing Audio” is the equivalent of “Phillip Kotler’s Marketing” in the Mixing Field. A big and heavy book that contains many facts, information and a nice approximation covering each of the main themes in the mixing field and a large part of its tools.
I also read Owsinski’s Mixing Engineer’s Handbook and I found Izhaki’s to have a deeper approach to each subject it embarks on.
> The Good:
- Very compelling (provided you are interested in the subject, which off course you are or you wouldn’t be considering buying this heavy piece of knowledgeable post-processed tree).
- Massive information as pointed out in other reviews.
- Up to date Software and plugin information. Its ink is still drying: it is a 2008 hit.
- Good Audio examples in DVD. It could use a premade playlist though, aiming at lazy users like me.
> The Bad:
- It’s a big book; if you really read it you won’t be mixing for a while, trust me, although you will be a few levels up once you finish it.
- It’s a big book; meaning a heavy book, if you have to send it overseas -like me- it will cost you some more money.
- Despite being a very complete and interesting book, at the end of some chapters sometimes you find yourself thriving yet for even more information and screaming “I want more!” to the book… Actually this could be also in “The Good”.
> The Ugly
- It is also a deadly weapon. You can hit somebody with it and do some real damage.
It simply can’t be better, it’s superb. A nice addition to anybody’s mixing library.

A great book on audio mixing. Covers lots of ground. Very easy to read and the information is easily digestable (doesn’t feel like a boring technical textbook), especially with included DVD filled with sample audio files to illustrate the point — what a great concept! Very practical.
